About Tom
I didn't set out to do this. Life sent me here.
My name is Tom Spaeth. I've loved building things my whole life: taking something broken and making it beautiful.
Then my dad died.
I've bought and fixed houses since 1986. Rentals, fix-and-flips, rehabs, new builds. Over 300 houses.
Then my dad died.
We'd planned for it, or we thought we had. Then came the house, the passwords, the stuff, and the grief, all at once. I've since lost both parents and walked that road twice. I learned firsthand what families go through.
That's when it clicked. Agents are great with houses in good shape. But when the house is a mess and life is too, most people have nobody on their side.
I decided to be that person. The easy button, with a servant's heart.
I've been close to the edge, too.
There was a time I considered bankruptcy myself. I know how it feels from the inside. I know the shame people carry, and I know it isn't deserved.
Financial problems can happen to anybody. So when you call, you'll never be judged. Not for the debt, not for the condition of the house, not for anything.
Why "Doulos"?
Doulos is Greek for "servant." It's a reminder, every day, of why we're here.
Our job isn't to buy every house. It's to make sure you land in the right place. Sometimes that's with us. Sometimes it's with an agent, a lender or a housing counselor. Sometimes it's staying right where you are.
What we believe
Seven things guide everything we do, and we try to show them more than we say them.
A servant's heart
We're here to serve you. You'll see it in how we treat you.
Integrity above all
We tell you the truth, even when it costs us the deal.
People before profits
You come first. The house comes second.
Compassion in action
Kindness means nothing until you do something with it.
Excellence and ownership
We do the job right, and we own it when we don't.
Stewardship
Your home, your money and your memories are in our care. We treat them that way.
Impact beyond the closing
Success is you and your family landing well, not the paperwork.
My team
I can't take every call myself, and I won't pretend I do. When you call, you'll talk to me or someone on my small team I've trained myself.
Every one of them learns our way before they talk to anyone alone: listen first, lay out every option, never pressure. And if your situation is complicated, it comes straight to me.
A few facts, since you might be wondering
- In real estate since 1986.
- Over 300 houses bought.
- About 100 homeowners helped through foreclosure.
- Quoted in Fox Business on the home affordability crisis.
But honestly, the number I care about is how many people walk away knowing their options, whether they sell to us or not.
Life gets complicated. You don't have to figure everything out alone.
